5 Questions to Ask Storage Providers

The following is a list of questions to consider asking about all Storage Services.  Do not assume that every provider has the same policies, operating hours, and security.  Protect yourself and your possessions and have these questions answered before signing an agreement.

1.    What kind of security do you have?

•    This is extremely important!  Security could be just as minimal as the lock or code to your unit or highly sophisticated.  Find out what measures are in place to protect your unit.

•    Locks or codes on the units, do they have copies of keys? Who else has access to keys and codes?

2.    What are your hours of operation and when can I access my belongings?

•    They may be the same or differ greatly.  This is important information to have if you know that you will need to access your items on weekends or at late hours.

3.    Do you offer moving services?

•    Onsite services include dollies, handcarts, and packing supplies.

•    Offsite services include truck rentals and moving vans.

4.    Do you accept deliveries?

•    Some moving services will place your belongings in storage.

•    Also, important for corporate accounts which require storage of delivered items on a regular basis.

5.    What forms of payment do you accept?

•    Cash, CC, check, in-person, mail, phone, Online or automatic withdrawal.
